The Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has sent a letter of condolence to his Chinese counterpart Premier Wenjiabao on May 13, one day after the deadly quake in Sichuan, expressing sympathy and condolences and pledging Denmark stands ready to assist the rescue and relief.
Representatives of the Danish Royal Court, Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, A.P. Møller Maersk Group and Danish Chinese Business Forum as well as many people from all circles has visited the Embassy for condolences.
The Danish Government has donated 750,000 DKK through the Danish Red Cross, 250,000 DKK through Save the Children, and on May 19 an additional 2,500,000 DKK through Danish Red Cross as a response to the international appeal from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC).
The local Chinese Community also sent their condolences and donations to the Embassy. The Embassy now raised a total of over 550,000 DKK.
The Embassy would like to express sincere thanks for the condolences and the donations. The donated funds are being transferred to the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, who is coordinating the rescue and relief work.
