On April 2, 2014, President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing after attending the third Nuclear Security Summit held in The Hague of the Netherlands, and concluding the state visits to the Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium as well as the visits to the UNESCO and the EU headquarters.

Peng Liyuan, President Xi Jinping’s wife, Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau and Director of the Policy Research Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Li Zhanshu, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, Yang Jiechi, State Councilor and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

In the afternoon of April 1 local time, Xi Jinping left Brugge of Belgium for home. Upon the departure, King Philippe of Belgium held a grand farewell ceremony at the Brugge Square for Xi jinping. Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan, along with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, walked into the Square side by side. Xi Jinping, accompanied by King Philippe, reviewed the Guard of Honor. The military band played the national anthems of both China and Belgium.The heads of state then reviewed the march-past of the Guard of Honor.
