Xi Jinping Meets with National Assembly Speaker Claude Bartolone of France

On March 27, 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Paris with Speaker of French National Assembly Claude Bartolone.

Xi Jinping said, on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship, I, together with President François Hollande, made the decision to open up the new era of a close and enduring China-France comprehensive and strategic partnership. China-France relations are standing at a new historical starting point with broader prospects. Both sides should follow the guidance of the newly issued Joint Statement between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of France and consolidate the three pillars of politics, economy, and people-to-people and culture so as to promote China-France relations for new and greater development.

Xi Jinping stressed, the National People's Congress (NPC) of China and the National Assembly of France maintain a sound momentum in exchanges. We hope that both sides will strengthen communication on governance and administration of state affairs and major international issues, enhance mutual understanding and boost China-France friendship.

Bartolone expressed that President Xi Jinping's visit to France has scored important achievements. It is a strong driving force for the development of France-China relations. The French National Assembly is willing to enhance friendly exchanges with the NPC, to actively promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation and to deepen the friendship between the two peoples.
